On Tuesday, January 29, John B. Cruz Construction Co., Inc., Mayor Martin J. Walsh, Boston Housing Authorities, and Beacon Communities came together for the launch of the rehabilitation of two housing developments in Lower Roxbury. Cruz Construction was selected by Beacon Communities as the General Contractor. Property improvements consist of new boilers, upgrading the electrical and fire alarm systems, new windows, new kitchens and bathrooms.

“As a minority-owned construction and real estate development firm, Cruz Construction appreciates the opportunity that the Beacon Communities has afforded us to construct this $13M project”, says John B. Cruz, III President and CEO.

The first phase is the Camden Housing Development, a 72-unit state-funded development. The Beacon Communities, LLC was designated as the developer in 2015. Beacon plans to modernize the 357 units in Lenox/Camden with the goal of creating a successful, economically and environmentally stable rental community.
